The Trigger Panel

This part of the "Control Center" on the "Main Screen" enables you to establish triggers!

What are triggers?
Triggers are events, that may happen on your data or signal lines. They may be error events or date/time values reached! If one or more of these configured events occurs, ComTrace can start or stop recording as you want to!

The Trigger Grid
You can establish up to 256 triggers in any sequence and condition in the trigger grid, that is inside the trigger panel! You can see the caption, number, description and condition of each trigger, and whether it is activated or not. And you can quickly enable or disable a trigger by clicking the checkbox.

The Tool Bar
At the bottom of the "Trigger Panel", there are some buttons, that let you insert, remove and edit the triggers with the "Trigger Settings" window or change there sequence with up and down function buttons!

Here is the list of buttons and there functions:

INS - Insert a trigger
DEL - Remove a trigger
EDIT - Edit a trigger
UP - Move trigger one up
DOWN - Move trigger one down
RES - Reset Trigger Grid

Start/Stop/Inactivity Triggers
One or more trigger of type "start" or "stop" can be grouped (activated), e.g so that one event of a group of start triggers is sufficient to start the automatic recording. You are able to establish a trigger condition chain with multiple start/stop triggers in sequence, so that you can proceed very complex start/stop conditions, really recording only the data you want. Though and even under difficult conditions.
Inactivity triggers handle timeouts on data- and control lines and error conditions. These can appear as a sequence of multiple triggers.

Saving the Triggers
All triggers will be saved to an environment file, if the user wants to. Therefore you can use it again any time you want. If you exit ComTrace, it automatically checks for changes in the environment and asks you whether to save the changes or not!

Loading the Triggers
On startup, ComTrace loads the last used environment (and so the trigger list) automatically. You also can load the environment and its triggers manually.

To setup the triggers, follow the description of the "Trigger Settings" window.
