Display | Special | Control chars.
If the "Character Mode" is set to USASCII, the Special Settings for characters can be set to "Control Characters".
That means that not the sign for that character code is shown, but the control code, if one exists for that char is shown in format ^ (Arrow up) plus a single sign.

See also the column "Description" of the data grid depending on the display mode!

Example:
For the code "0" the contraction "^@" is presented.
