What interface cards do I need for a notebook with only one COM port?
If you have a notebook with only one COM port, that you want to use with IWOXX ComTrace for Windows, you need to insert additional interface(s).
Therefore notebooks have so named PCMCIA slots. Most notebooks have two of them. Normally, they are positioned at one side or at the rear of the unit.
You now have the posibility, to put a RS232 PCMCIA interface into it. After driver installation, delivered with the cards, you can access the card's COM port.
There are only few manufacturers of such adapters. We suggest the IWOXX certified articles.
The offered adapters were extensively tested for compatibility with ComTrace. Another chance is to use the USB ports of your notebook. There are several products in the market called USB-To-RS232 adapter, to establish additional COM ports. Mostly there can be more than one of these adapters plugged into your USB ports. IWOXX certified the "LINDY USB-To-RS232" adapter with USB 1.1 or USB 2.0 specification and Prolific chip set. You can buy it at our shop.
